Editing for the Web, Trevor, Robb

I chose an article from the Edmonton Journal's "dining out" section called "Zinc shows a zest for creative cuisine". The article explains how after a rough start Zinc restaraunt, located inside of the brand new Alberta Art Gallery, is finally catching on. The artcile itself however is unappealing and hardly eye-catching.

The text is broken up into "chunks" and most, if not all of the paragraphs are short. Still, with no bold subheads, external links, or bullets the text is pretty stagnant. It hurts to read. And when you do read it, you wish you hadn't. Nothing about this article makes me want to dine at this restaurant. Couple the content with the poor overall construction of the article and you've got the makings of a boring, painful read.

Looking at the buisness portrait hurts as well. John Ulan would fail this picture. No question. How does this make it to the news? Are they that hard up for a crappy picture/restaurant review? Must be. I could do better. All of us could do better. Back to school for you Mr. Kellogg.
