Editing for the Web Dale Boyd

The article I chose is "
UNI's upset one of many shakeups," by Gene Wojciechowski from Espn.go.com.

  • The article is fairly lengthy, but the text is on one side of the screen and links to other articles and website content takes up about a quarter of the screen as well.
  • The article is contained in one page, the reader will have to scroll down a couple times to read it all.
  • The most important information is given quickly, albeit in a somewhat original way, Wojciechowski lists the teams out of the tournament in the first few paragraphs
  • It is broken up into very small, to-the-point sentences at first, and then expands into more in-depth paragraphs on the teams and games further down in the article.

The article is a tad long winded, it is an opinion piece however. He includes more than enough info and stats and these things are in high demand in an article during March Madness. It works for what the article is written for, which is to provide observations on what has happened and provide opinion on whats in store. This he does very well, and his opinion is more than likely held in somewhat high regard to land this job.

Structurally no sub-heads and after the first few paragraph it gets increasingly long winded. His quotes are placed really low down in the article. As an overview online it works well as far as fitting its intended purpose.

A video team review of every team in the NCAA men's basketball tournament can be found here.
