Editing For The Web, Katie Elliott

I found an article on the CBC News website, Canadians prefer PC to TV: survey. It tells the results of a survey which reports just what the title states: Canadians prefer to be online than on watching television.

This is likely coming as little suprise to most, seeing as the internet gives people the power to control what they watch and when.

Over all the layout works fairly well online. Short, to-the-point and even had a nice grey box on the right hand side which sums up time Canadian's spent doing certain activities according to the survey to give the article some context

The photo in the article was a little cheesy, but it contextually made sense. Except maybe for that picture the reason those people weren't watching television is cause it was so old it doesn't work. They don't even have furniture...but that is besides the point.

The article did lack in links: total of zero. But I enjoy when articles online allow comments, so this article gained bonus points on that.

This article did lack much resoning, mainly due to the fact that it was an article on the survey results themselves. But incase these survey results shock you (???) here are some articles to check out that might help give you some insight and shed a little light into the dark cave you have been living in.
Please Note: both articles linked to above are very poorly structured for online readership.

  1. Hey Katie:
I'm going to edit your blog post for one of my E-Portolio comment requirements. Hope you don't mind.

The first thing I noticed was in the sentence "Canadians prefer to be online than on watching television," you don't need the word "on."

The second sentence in your third paragraph is a bit of a run-on.

Other than that, I found it to be fairly well put together. I espically enjoyed the part where you provide some insight for all those poor fools living in their "dark caves."
